"Where Time Stands Still" is part of the series "Fragments of Her – Women Who Rise Again," where each portrait explores a different moment of vulnerability and inner strength. Here, graphite becomes a medium of slowness and precision: values are worked through successive layers of hatching and blending, until a balance between realism and suggestion is achieved.
The model is not depicted in a dramatic pose; everything rests on the subtlety of the gaze, the slight tilt of the head, and the light that captures the essential forms. The absence of detailed background allows the viewer to focus on the silent presence of the face, like a suspended breath.
This work reflects the artist's interest in the psychology of emotions, the keen observation of expressions, and how a simple change in value or contour can transform the feeling. Within the portfolio, this piece illustrates VB-Arts' ability to combine technical expertise with a sensitive approach, serving as a backdrop for a contemporary, intimate, and profoundly human portrait of a woman.
